November 6, 2021
Classic Lady won her first stakes of 2021 and second lifetime in Friday’s $200,000 Ticonderoga S. on the inner turf at Belmont Park.
One of Jimmy Creed’s 11 stakes horses this year, Classic Lady is 5-5-5 in 21 lifetime starts and has earned $401,290 for Michael Dubb and Michael Caruso.
Classic Lady, in post 1, let Silky Blue and Two Cent Tootsie sprint out to the early lead, settling in third about a half-dozen lengths from the front. Despite a slow pace of :50.40 and 1:14.02, Classic Lady made a three-wide move to take the lead in upper stretch. She held sway the rest of the trip to win by 1 ¼-lengths.
Classic Lady, 6, was bred by Seth Gregory and Robert Barney.
Jimmy Creed’s first runner in this year’s Breeders’ Cup was Kaufymaker, who finished third, beaten just a length in the $1 million Juvenile Turf Sprint (G2) on Friday at Del Mar. His Grade 1 winner Casa Creed will contest tomorrow’s $2 million Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1) on the Del Mar turf.
