Into Mischief has now accounted for the winners of eight Breeders’ Cup races following Citizen Bull’s scintillating victory in Friday’s $2 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) at Del Mar.

Into Mischief is now tied with Curlin for the most wins in the 41-year history of the championship event.

Citizen Bull took the fight to his nine foes immediately from the start, winning a scramble for the lead to get the first quarter-mile in :23.44. He relaxed nicely on the backstretch through a half-mile in :47.89. After another measured quarter-mile, Citizen Bull turned for home with a one-length lead that he would never relinquish. He pulled clear of stablemate Gaming to win by 1 ½-lengths in 1:43.07 on a fast track.

“My horse was just running easy early and the other horse (Gaming) was just cruising in second,” winning rider Martin Garcia said. “And, when it was time to go, the horse just took off.”

Owned by SF Racing, LLC, Starlight Racing, Madaket Stables, Stonestreet Stables LLC, D Bashor, Determined Stables, R Masterson, Tom Ryan, Waves Edge Capital LLC & Catherine Donovan, Citizen Bull is now 3-0-1 in four starts and has earned $1,301,000 following the $1.04 million payday.

Bred by Robert and Lawana Low, Citizen Bull sold to his owners for $675,000 at the 2023 Keeneland September Yearling sale.

Into Mischief’s record-breaking year now has progeny earnings over $31.5 million and 16 graded winners. Citizen Bull is one of five Grade 1 winners for his sire in 2024.

In Saturday’s Breeders’ Cup races, Into Mischief has a pair of Classic (G1) runners: Pyrenees and Newgate, as well as Meta Max in the Sprint (G1).
