Chanel’s Legacy keeps rolling in $125K Martha Washington S.
February 11, 2017
Dominus’ leading 3-year-old filly Chanel’s Legacy tallied career stakes win number three on Saturday with a professional 2 1/2-length victory in the $125,000 Martha Washington S. at Oaklawn Park.
Winner of the six-furlong Dixie Belle S. over the same track last month, Chanel’s Legacy took over the lead about half-way through Saturday’s one-mile test and never was seriously threatened in the stretch.
“We thought there would be some speed,” trainer Lynn Chleborad said. “We wanted to save her kick for the end. It makes her a better horse when she can come off the pace and kick it down the lane.”
Owned and bred by Allen Poindexter, Chanel’s Legacy also won last year’s Gaylord Memorial S. and is now 4-0-1 in seven starts, with earnings of $234,394. She also picked up 10 points on the Road to the Kentucky Oaks series.
With the victory by Chanel’s Legacy, Dominus moved to the top spot on the 2017 Second-Crop Sire list. The Spendthrift stallion is standing for $7,500 live foal this year.
