Caribbean Gal becomes second graded stakes winner for Thousand Words
November 28, 2024
Caribbean Gal rolled to a 6 ¼-length victory in the Clasico Accion de Gracias S. (G1) on Thanksgiving Day at Camarero Race Track in Puerto Rico to earn her first stakes win and give top-five First-Crop sire Thousand Words his second graded stakes winner of the year.
Coming off a second-place effort in a Grade 3 last month over the same course, Caribbean Gal turned the tables on her foe Hurricane Boricua. Caribbean Gal battled for the lead with Three Step Ahead in the early going before putting her away after three furlongs. On the turn and into the stretch, Caribbean Gal drew away under a hand ride and was never threatened to the wire.
Caribbean Gal, owned by Guillermo Berrios, has won three of five starts. The dark bay/brown filly was bred by Jeannie Carrere.
Thousand Words has tallied an impressive 18 individual winners and over $1.7 million in progeny earnings to date. In addition to Caribbean Gal, he has accounted for Adirondack S. (G3) winner The Queens M G and Debutante S. winner Vodka With a Twist.
