By My Standards’ first yearling through the ring during the Fasig-Tipton July sale brought plenty attention from bidders, eventually selling for $200,000 when the hammer fell.
From the Buckland Sales consignment, the flashy chestnut colt went to CJ Stables, LLC.
The Kentucky-bred colt is out of the Speightstown mare Hottestthingintown, who is a half-sister to stakes winner Gotham Gala and a full sister to graded stakes-placed Eastwood. Third dam Our Shopping Spree won a half-dozen stakes and produced a pair of stakes winners.
“By My Standards didn’t get the numbers and he started at a little lower price point,” said Spendthrift’s Ned Toffey. “So while we didn’t have the sample size, I know from talking with our breeders and getting out and seeing these offspring that we’re really, really pleased with what we’re seeing. It’s not surprising at all that he can have some very nice individuals.”
By My Standards had an excellent career across three seasons of racing, earning over $2.2 million while collecting wins in the Louisiana Derby (G2), Oaklawn H. (G2), Alysheba S. (G2) and New Orleans Classic (G2). A son of Spendthrift’s champion sire Into Mischief, By My Standards stood the 2024 season for $5,000 S&N.
