Bolt d’Oro kicks off Keeneland Book 3 with a bang
September 19, 2021
Saturday’s Keeneland September Yearling Sale yielded more stellar results for Bolt d’Oro’s first crop, with three youngsters bringing at least $300,000.
With 41 yearlings sold to date in 2021, Bolt d’Oro’s average price of $230,926 is fourth-best among all First-Crop yearling sires and nearly 10 times his bred-on stud fee.
Topping Saturday’s list was hip No. 1445, a filly consigned by Woods Edge Farm and purchased for $310,000 by BDR IV and West Point Thoroughbreds. The Kentucky-bred is out of the Speightstown mare Dazzletown, who is a half-sister to stakes winner and graded stakes-placed Yates Black Cat. This is also the family of two-time Canadian Champion Roxy Gap.
Immediately following in the ring was Bolt d’Oro’s hip No. 1446, a colt consigned by Baccari Bloodstock, agent. The winning buyer, at $300,000, was Toskiyuki Fukumori. The bay colt hails from the stakes-placed D’cats Meow, herself a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Pomeroy’s Pistol, who is the dam of multiple graded winner Thousand Words.
Slightly later in the session came hip No. 1474, a filly consigned by Elm Tree Farm, agent. She also sold for $300,000, to Joe Migliore, agent. Her stakes-placed dam Fancy and Flashy has already produced the Grade 3-placed colt Wipe the Slate.
Bolt d’Oro has an additional 44 lots cataloged for the sale which runs through Friday.
