May 20, 2022
Top-five First-Crop sire Bolt d’ Oro got his second career winner on May 20 at Gulfstream Park when a hard-charging Boppy O tallied a 1 ½-length win in a five-furlong maiden special weight affair on the main track.
The bay colt came from several lengths back at the top of the stretch with a four-wide move. He rolled by the leaders inside the furlong marker before stopping the timer in :58.71 on a fast track as the even-money favorite.
Boppy O was bred in Florida by Rustlewood Farm, Inc. and is owned by the partnership of John Oxley and Breeze Easy, LLC. He was purchased by his owners for $190,000 out of the 2021 Keeneland September yearling sale.
Out of Pappascat, Boppy O is a half-brother to Best Pal S. (G2) winner Pappacap. Pappascat has a yearling by Spendthrift stallion Omaha Beach.
A multiple Grade 1 winner at two, Bolt d’Oro has been one of the most prolific young stallions, covering more than 500 mares in his first three seasons. His 2022 fee is $20,000 S&N.
