Look Forward’s tenacious victory in Sunday’s $100,000 Santa Ynez S. earned the 3-year-old Bolt d’Oro filly 10 points on the Road to the Kentucky Oaks (G1), which is scheduled for May 2 at Churchill Downs.

The bay filly now has a total of 15 points in the series after earning five points for her second-place finish in the Dec. 7 Starlet S. (G2) at Los Alamitos.

In the seven-furlong Santa Ynez, Look Forward raced in third and in the three path down the backstretch, then moved up to challenge for the lead around the turn. She took over from Silent Law in upper stretch, then held off a strong challenge from Artisma to win by a head in 1:25.42 on a fast track.

“I’m just thankful to (owner) Paul Reddam for moving this horse over to us,” said trainer Mike McCarthy, who took over conditioning the filly following her trainer Ben Cecil’s death. “Ben and his crew did all the heavy lifting. Who knows how far she will run? Obviously with her run the other day at Los Al, you would think that she would stretch out. I think once she does do that, she will be able to find herself in a comfortable spot.”

Reddam acquired Look Forward for $285,000 at the 2023 Keeneland September Yearling sale. She was bred by Woods Edge Farm, LLC and Ballyfair Bloodstock in Kentucky and is a half-sister to multiple stakes winner Amidst Waves.

Look Forward is the 14th lifetime stakes winner for Bolt d’Oro. The champion First-Crop sire of 2022, Bolt d’Oro had a half-dozen stakes winners and progeny earnings topping $7.1 million in 2024. His 2025 fee is $30,000 live foal.
