Bolt d’Oro filly ascends to $460,000 at Tuesday’s OBS opener
April 17, 2024
The OBS Spring Sale of 2-year-olds in Training got off to a strong start for Bolt d’Oro when hip No. 295 brought a top bid of $460,000 during Tuesday’s opening session of the four-day sale.
Consigned by Eddie Woods, agent, the bay filly had worked a swift furlong of :9 4/5-seconds during last week’s Under Tack show. The winning bidder was Bregman Family Racing LLC.
The Kentucky-bred filly is out of the unraced Candy Ride (ARG) mare Major Z, while her second dam, Double Major, is a half-sister to the champion 2-year-old colt Shared Belief and graded stakes winner Little Miss Holly.
Bolt d’Oro, who was the champion Freshman Sire of 2022 and is among the top 10 in his crop this year, stands for $60,000 live foal. He has 16 hips remaining in this week’s auction, highlighted by hip No. 787, a colt who blazed a furlong in a bullet :9 3/5-seconds and is consigned by Top Line Sales Agency.
