Big numbers Wednesday at OBS for Goldencents

Goldencents closed out the OBS March 2-year-olds in Training sale on March 14 with his best results of the sale, topped by a $400,000 colt purchased by Winchell Thoroughbreds.
Hoby and Layna Knight consigned the Winchell purchase, hip No. 567, who worked a sales-best quarter-mile in 20 1/5 seconds at the Under Tack Show.
“If more Goldencents’ are this fast, everybody is going to want one,” Hoby Knight remarked about the colt’s sparkling breeze. The colt’s dam, the unraced Unbridled’s Song mare Royale Paradise, is out of Grade 2 Barbara Fritchie S. winner Royale Michele.
Earlier in the session, Goldencents’ hip No. 383, consigned by Southern Chase Farm, agent, went to Steve Weston for $340,000. The well-bred colt is out of the Empire Maker mare Inceptive, whose half-sister Bubbler is the dam of champion Arrogate.
Goldencents’ average for the sale was a super $267,500, third-best for all First-Crop sires with at least four lots sold.
