Authentic the leading Freshman Sire at Keeneland November sale

With eight lots selling for an average of $213,750, 2020 Horse of the Year Authentic was the runaway leading Freshman Sire at the recently concluded Keeneland November sale.
Authentic, who won the Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1), Kentucky Derby (G1) and Haskell S. (G1) during his championship campaign, has an overall weanling sales average of $242,692 in 2022, more than $100,000 than any other First-Crop sire.
His Keeneland best-sellers were a trio of filly that all surpassed the quarter-million dollar mark. Leading the list was hip No. 599, consigned by Elm Tree Farm and purchased by St. Francis. The bay filly is out of multiple stakes winner Vertical Vision and is a half-sister to multiple graded winner Vertical Oak.
Hip No. 207, consigned by Paramount Sales, agent, sold for $280,000 AAA Thoroughbreds. Another bay, the filly is out of Truly Gifted, whose siblings include Malibu S. (G1) winner Latent Heat, Vagrancy H. (G2) winner Indian Flare, and French multiple group stakes winner Art Master.
AAA Thoroughbreds was also the winning bidder, at $260,000, for hip No. 885. Consigned by Indian Creek, agent, the filly is out of Rebelle, who is a half-sister to graded stakes winners Kid Cruz and Spellbound.
Authentic, who has covered a total of 431 mares in his first two seasons at stud, will stand for $60,000 live foal in 2023.
