Authentic colt finds two-turn turf debut much to his liking
September 7, 2024
Fully Authorized opened a big lead at the top of the stretch then coasted to victory in a one-mile maiden turf race on Sept. 7 at Monmouth Park.
The 2-year-old colt, who is the fifth winner for top-10 First-Crop sire Authentic, was making his turf and two-turn debut following his initial outing sprinting just two weeks prior.
Fully Authorized tracked a brisk pace in second before taking command with about three furlongs to run. He cut the corner and opened up some five lengths in midstretch before coasting home a two-length winner under a hand ride.
The gray colt, who was a $100,000 purchase at the 2024 Fasig-Tipton mid-lantic sale in May, is owned by Laura Barrish and was bred by Aaron and Marie Jones, LLC in Kentucky. Fully Authorized is the first foal out of stakes winner Streak of Luck.
Among Authentic’s five maiden special winners are Adeera, who was recently stakes-placed in the $175,000 Ellis Park Debutante and Authentic Strike, who will start in Saturday’s $300,000 Iroquois S. (G3) at Churchill Downs.
