September 11, 2020
With four of his colts bringing at least $500,000 over the two days of the Sept. 9-10 Fasig-Tipton Selected Yearlings Showcase, Into Mischief had another stellar sale.
With all the results tabulated, 17 of Into Mischief’s 19 lots through the ring sold, with an average of $396,765.
His top lot sold on Thursday when hip No. 501 was tabbed for $800,000 by Donato Lanni, agent for SF Racing, Starling Racing and Madaket Stables.
“I am happy he got a Classic winner this year,” Lanni said of Into Mischief. “And I am happy for B. Wayne Hughes and his team. He is finally a Classic producer and B. Wayne deserved that. He has done so much for the business.”
Consigned by Indian Creek, the colt is the first foal out of Blind Copy, who is a full sister to stakes winner Lucky Folie. The deep female family boasts the likes of Grade 1 winners Golden Pheasant and Henley’s Joy.
Into Mischief’s top lot on Wednesday was hip No. 274, consigned by Denali Stud, agent, and sold to Dermot O’Byrne for $700,000. The bay colt is a half-brother to Grade 2 winner Made You Look and his third dam is Hall of Famer Serena’s Song.
Into Mischief’s remarkable 2020 reached new heights last weekend when Authentic became his first Kentucky Derby (G1) winner. His progeny earnings of nearly $12.4 million are almost $4 million more than any other sire standing in North America.
