August 6, 2024
Yaupon, whose first crop are yearlings of 2024, was one of the leading freshman sires at the Aug. 6-7 Saratoga Yearling sale with an average price of $269,167.
Leading the way for the Spendthrift stallion was hip No. 76, which sold Monday for $500,000 to AMO Racing USA LLC from the Gainesway consignment.
The dark bay colt is out of Grade 2 winner Lady Sabelia, whose first two foals to race are both winners.
Tuesday’s session produced more excellent results for Yaupon, with hip No. 166, a colt consigned by Bluewater Sales LLC, agent, selling for $365,000 to MyRacehorse. The bay Kentucky-bred is the first foal out of Spanxamillion, who is a half-sister to a pair of stakes performers.
A few minutes later hip No. 172, consigned by Summerfield, agent, sold for $275,000 to Marshall Taylor, agent for Red, White and Blue. Out of Stormbeforethecalm, the filly is a half-sister to stakes winners Proven Strategies and Corona Bolt.
