$425,000 for Wicked Strong filly Tuesday at OBS
March 13, 2019
The 2-year-old sales season kicked off with a bang on Tuesday for First-Crop sire Wicked Strong when a filly by the Spendthrift stallion brought a winning bid of $425,000 at the OBS March Sale of 2-year-olds in training.
It was the second-highest price for a lot by a First-year sire during the session. The filly, hip No. 134, was consigned by Mayberry Farm, agent, and had plenty of pre-sale buzz after breezing an eighth-mile in 09 4/5-seconds during last week’s Under Tack show.
The winning bidder was Lauren Carlisle, agent.
“She was at the top of the list,” said Carlisle. “A fast filly with a good mind, and by a stallion that got better with age. The Wicked Strongs have breezed really well.”
The Kentucky bred bay is out of Diva Girl, who has already produced eight winners and herself a sister to a pair of black type winners.
Wicked Strong also had a $150,000 filly go through the ring on Tuesday, with Bradley Throughbreds, agent, acquiring the bay who is from the same family as Classic-placed Social Inclusion.
Wicked Strong has an additional six lots in the catalog for Wednesday’s closing session of the sale.
