Omaha Beach not only topped all First-Crop sires with a $410,000 filly during Tuesday’s Fasig-Tipton July sale, hip No. 90 wound up as the top price paid for a filly by any sire at the one-day sale.
Consigned by Woodford Thoroughbreds on behalf of Spendthrift Farm, the bay filly sold to powerhouse buyers Solis/Litt, who signed the ticket for Jamie Roth’s LNJ Foxwoods.
“Omaha Beach was a great racehorse. I wasn’t looking exactly for one, but we were looking for a really good filly in the sale,” Alex Solis said. “I thought she was one of the top fillies in the sale.”
The filly is the second foal out of Beaumont S. (G3) winner Gas Station Sushi, whose s first foal, a colt by Lord Nelson, sold for $200,000 at last year’s Keeneland September sale.
Omaha Beach had five yearlings sell Tuesday for an average of $236,000, nearly eight times his current stud fee.
