$275,000 colt anchors strong Fasig-Tipon NY Sale for Yaupon

The Aug. 11-12 Fasig-Tipton New York Bred Yearling sale was solid across the board for First-Crop sire Yaupon with a two-day average of $169,000 and four lots bringing at least $200,000.
Topping the list for the Spendthrift stallion was hip No. 485, which sold for $275,000 to trainer Mike Maker from the Taylor Made Sales Agency consignment. The colt is the second foal out of the two-time stakes winner Frostie Annie. The dark bay hails from the extended family of champion I Ain’t Bluffing and multiple graded winner Powerful Punch.
Hip No. 456, consigned by Paramount Sales Agent, went to Ronald Stewart for $240,000. The filly is out of Downtown Daria and is a half-sister to three-time stakes winner Dream Bigger.
On Sunday hip No. 314 sold to Pura Vida Investments LLC for $210,000. Consigned by Indian Creek, agent, the bay colt is out of the graded stakes-placed Giant’s Causeway mare Seeking Her Glory. The colt’s third dam is multiple graded winner Atlantic Ocean.
Yaupon’s yearlings have brought up to $500,000 during this summer’s auction season. With 27 lots sold, he has averaged $188,777. Yaupon has 98 lots in the upcoming Keeneland September sale.
