$155,000 filly leads the way for Basin at Fasig-Tipton July sale
July 10, 2024
First-crop sire Basin had an average sale price nearly 20 times his stud fee at Tuesday’s Fasig-Tipton July Sale in central Kentucky.
Leading the way for the Grade 1 winner was hip No. 33, which sold for $155,000. The Kentucky-bred filly was consigned by Gainesway, agent and went to Ben Gowans, agent.
The bay filly is the third foal out of the multiple stakes-placed mare Glamour N Glory. Under the first four dams is English Champion and Epsom Derby (G1) winner Henbit, Grade 1-winning millionaire Mr Purple, and multiple Grade 1 winner Queens Court Queen.
Basin is a son of leading young sire Liam’s Map. As a 2-year-old, he won the Hopeful S. (G1) by 6 ½-lengths, the largest margin in a decade. At three, he was a close second to fellow Spendthrift freshman sire Yaupon in the Amsterdam S. (G2). Basin stands for $5,000 live foal.
