Drexel Hill rides momentum into $1.5 million Kentucky Oaks (G1)
April 26, 2025
Bolt d’Oro’s Drexel Hill, who has improved nicely in all three of her stakes starts, was assigned post 4 for the May 2nd Kentucky Oaks (G1).
The 3-year-old filly was a troubled fifth in the Dec. 21st Untappable S. at Fair Grounds, then came back a month later to just get nipped for second in the Silverbulletday S. over the same New Orleans track. Undaunted, she would go on to win the Busher S. March 1st at Aqueduct, coming from well off the pace, and once again overcoming a rough trip, to get the win.
Trained by Louisville native Whit Beckman for Legion Racing, Drexel Hill has post three strong works at Churchill Downs in April, including a bullet five furlongs of :58 2/5 on April 19th.
For the Oaks, Drexel Hill will be ridden by Ben Curtis, who also rode the dark bay filly in the Busher.
Drexel Hill was bred in Kentucky by Tuscany Bloodstock.
A leading Fourth-Crop sire, Bolt d’Oro has nine stakes horses thus far in 2025.
The Kentucky Oaks is race 11 on Friday’s card, with a post time of 5:51 pm ET.
