Vekoma’s Five G very well drawn in post 8 for Kentucky Oaks 151

April 26, 2025

Vekoma’s Grade 2-winning filly Five G drew a very advantageous post for the May 2nd Kentucky Oaks (G1) when the 1 1/8-mile race was drawn on Saturday evening.

Assigned post 8 in the 14-horse field, Five G is in an ideal spot to use her natural speed as she did winning the Gulfstream Park Oaks (G2) on March 29, going gate to wire to win by 2 ¼-lengths.

The Gatsas Stables’ homebred, trained by George Weaver, will be ridden by Manny Franco, who was also aboard at Gulfstream.

In addition to her most recent win, Five G won the $150,000 Cash Run S., also at Gulfstream, on New Year’s Day. She is 3-2-0 in five starts at a mile or over, and has earned $393,740.

Five G is one of Vekoma’s six stakes winners this year. With more than $4.5 million in progeny earnings to date in 2025, Vekoma is a clear-cut leader on the Second-Crop sire list and is fifth on the General Sire list.

Post time for the Kentucky Oaks, which is race 11 on the stakes-filled card, will be at 5:51 pm ET.
