Mitole filly controls the pace in Wilshire S. (G3) win
March 29, 2025

Tirupati earned her first stakes win Saturday at Santa Anita Park with a front-running score in the $100,000 Wilshire S. (G3).
The 4-year-old filly is the second graded stakes winner of the month for her sire, who currently ranks fourth on the Third-Crop sire list with over $16 million in progeny earnings. He is the only Third-Crop sire of 2025 to have at least three graded stakes horses.
Tirupati, who broke from post 1 in the one-mile turf race, was sent right to the lead and held a one-length advantage through six furlongs in 1:10.95. She kicked away at the top of the stretch, and when the outcome was assured, coasted under the wire by that one-length margin in 1:34.61 on the firm turf course.
“She ran a hell of a race the other day when she got beat by Liguria. (March 1, GII Buena Vista S.). She ran a hell of a race today,” said winning rider Umberto Rispoli. “The goal was to be on the speed, if nobody went then Jonathan gave me the green light to do what I wanted, as long as it didn’t turn into a sprint. I just made sure she was ready and at the turn she did the rest.”
Bred by Spendthrift Farm and owned by Augustin Stables, Tirupati is 4-3-5 in 13 starts and has earned $217,616.
