Two new TDN ‘Rising Stars’ for Into Mischief over St. Patrick’s Day weekend

March 17, 2025

Lion of Justice and Shred the Gnar, both 3-year-olds by Into Mischief, earned TDN ‘Rising Star’ status over the past weekend, the 50th and 51st for their six-time champion sire.

Lion of Justice was a dominating winner of his March 15 debut at Colonial Downs, coming home a 6 ½-length winner in a one-mile maiden special weight race. Leading at every point of call, the dark bay colt covered the distance in 1:33.87 on a fast track, barely missing the track record and earning a huge Beyer Speed Figure of 92.

The winner is owned by St. Elias Stable, Talla Racing, West Point Thoroughbreds & C J Stable, with West Point the winning bidder when he was purchased for $1.1 million at the 2023 Keeneland September sale. Lion of Justice was bred in Kentucky by Clearsky Farms and is a full brother to Grade 2 winner Everso Mischievous.

Shred the Gnar earned her ‘Star’ March 16 at Gulfstream Park, coincidentally at the same distance and by the same margin as Lion of Justice. Also a front-running winner, Shred the Gnar is owned by Flying Dutchmen Breeding and Racing LLC and sold for $610,000 at the 2023 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Yearling sale.

Shred the Gnar was bred by Camas Park Stud & Lynch Bages LTD and is a full sister to multiple graded winner and $1.5 million earner Owendale.
