Yaupon wraps up OBS 2yo sale with $875,000 colt

The OBS March 2-year-olds in Training sale finished with a bang for Yaupon when his last offering brought a winning bid of $875,000 during the Thursday afternoon session.

From the first crop of his Grade 1-winning, sire, the bay colt, hip No. 798, was consigned by Pick View LLC, agent and purchased by Spendthrift Farm LLC, West Point Thoroughbreds, Schurman, and CJ Stables.

The colt was bred in Kentucky by Southern Comfort Farm.

The colt’s dam Blue Grass Mary has produced a pair of winners and is a half-sister to graded stakes winner Sharp Impact.

Yaupon finished the auction with a sale average of $245,769, nearly 10 times his current stud fee.
