Drexel Hill’s come-from-behind victory in Saturday’s $200,000 Busher S. earned the 3-year-old Bolt d’Oro filly 50 points in Road to the Kentucky Oaks championship series, virtually assuring herself of a starting position the May 2nd race at Churchill Downs.

Bolt d’Oro has a trio of graded stakes winners, tops among all 2025 Fourth-Crop sires, to go along with his stakes winners Drexel Hill and Look Forward

Drexel Hill was unhurried out of the gate and was last of eight as the field exited the chute and onto the main track. After a half-mile, she had one horse beat with some seven lengths to make up. Under Ben Curtis’ urging, the dark bay filly began to make up ground on the turn and was third entering the stretch. She steadily closed on the top two, splitting them inside the final furlong to best Amarth by three-quarters of a length.

The final time for the mile on a fast track was 1:41.46.

“He [Curtis] was nudging her along the whole way and down the backside, so I was a little unsure if she was going to fire,” said trainer Whit Beckman. “Once he got her pointed outside she engaged and once she flattened out down the stretch she responded beautifully.”

With the win, Drexel Hill is 2-2-1 in seven starts and has earned $180,520 for Legion Racing. The winner was bred in Kentucky by Tuscany Bloodstock.
