Gallant effort earns Full Moon Madness victory in Tom Fool S. (G3)
March 2, 2025

Full Moon Madness became the 170th lifetime black type winner for Into Mischief with his determined score in Saturday’s $175,000 Tom Fool S. (G3) at Aqueduct.
The 5-year-old had been on the cusp of a stakes win in his last two starts, placing in both the Gravesend S. and Toboggan S. before his breakthrough win in Saturday’s six-furlong affair.
Full Moon Madness pressed Top Gunner, another son of Into Mischief, through the early stages before poking his head in front outside the quarter-mile pole. Surveillance put in an extended stretch bid, but Full Moon Madness held him off to win by 1 ¼-lengths in 1:11.10 on a fast track.
“A good, clean break today was great,” trainer Michelle Nevin said. “They were quick [splits], but Kendrick [Carmouche, on the winner] looked very comfortable and very happy where he was sitting. Manny [Franco, aboard Top Gunner] looked like he was having to work a little bit, but Kendrick was just poised there.”
Owned by his breeder Jay Em Ess Stable, Full Moon Madness is 4-2-3 in 12 starts and has earned $362,250. He was the first foal out of the $1.5 million earner and two-time Grade 1 winner By the Moon.
