Spendthrift-bred Bread To Run (Authentic) breaks maiden to become her sire’s 23rd first-crop winner.

Born March 10, 2022 at Spendthrift Farm, Bread To Run is out of the Noonmark mare Sliced Bread making the filly a half sister to the Grade 2 winner Kanthaka (Jimmy Creed). Consigned by Vinery Stables at the 2023 Keeneland September Yearling Sale, Bread To Run sold to September Farm for $150,000. Also owned by Storyteller Racing, Wilmot Thoroughbred LLC, and Schroeck Racing LLC, Bread To Run is trained by Rodolphe Brisset.

Ridden by jockey Luan Machado, Bread To Run broke poorly in the Turfway Park Maiden Claiming race, but recovered around the far turn and powered to victory by 1 1/2 lengths over an eleven horse field. The mile race was run in a time of 1:41.62.

Only Vekoma (37) and Volatile (24) have more first-crop winners than Authentic, who also boasts by far the most two-turn winners from any other freshman sire with 13 total.
