With the Angels chalked up another front-running win in Sunday’s $200,000 Maid of the Mist S. at Aqueduct, the third win in as many stars for the 2-year-old daughter of Omaha Beach.

The dark bay filly has won her races by a combined 24 ½-lengths and has never been headed at any point of call. She has progressed for her six-furlong maiden debut, to seven furlongs in the Joseph A. Gimma S., then to one mile on Sunday.

With her usual quick early foot, With the Angels made a relatively easy lead and took the field through early fractions of :23.57 and :46.82. She had a 1 ½-length lead turning for home and went uncontested down the stretch to win by 3 ¼-lengths in 1:36.69 on a fast track.

“She passes another test,” said winning trainer Linda Rice. “We decided against the [GI] Frizette. We wanted to give her a chance to get a few more races under her belt before she meets open company – that was the plan, and that’s what we did today.”

Rice noted that the GII Demoiselle over Thanksgiving weekend, at nine furlongs, could be a next start for her filly, saying: “We’re considering the Demoiselle. That’s our mark if we’re going to step into open company. That, or we’ll wrap her up for the year and start her up again in the spring. Time will tell.”

The winner is owned by Winning Move Stable, John C. Oxley, Lady Sheila Stable, Rideau Racers LLC and Sanford H. Robbins LLC and sold to her owners for $350,000 at the 2024 OBS Spring sale in April. She was bred by Joseph DeRico and is a half-sister to stakes-placed Maggy’s Palace.

Omaha Beach, who will stand for $35,000 S&N in 2025, currently sits atop the Second-Crop sire list with $6.5 million in progeny earnings, nine stakes winners and 18 stakes horses.
