Waves Of Mischief, daughter of 5 time Champion Sire Into Mischief, became her sire’s 76th graded stakes winner when she won the Grade 3 Pucker Up Stakes at Ellis Park on August 4th.

Bred in Kentucky by Pam & Martin Wygod, Waves Of Mischief is out of the Quality Road mare Pearl River and hails from the direct family of Sweet Catomine and Life Is Sweet. She was sold for $575,000 at the Ocala Spring 2 Year Old Sale in 2023 and bought by current owners Qatar Racing, Waves Of Mischief was sent to trainer Brendan Walsh.

Ridden by jockey Brian Joseph Hernandez Jr., Waves Of Mischief broke well and stalked the pace on the inside. Swinging wide around the turn, Waves Of Mischief looked second best in the stretch, but in the final furlong sped forward and grabbed the lead at the wire, defeating G3 Regret Stakes winner Pin Up Betty by a head. The 1 1/8 mile turf race was run in a time of 1:47.50.

Already a winner in her debut race and stakes placed in the listed Hilltop Stakes at Pimlico, this was Waves Of Mischief first stakes victory.

Into Mischief is sitting comfortably atop the General Leading Sire rankings, with more than $22,500,000 in progeny earnings in 2024.
