A filly from the first crop of Horse of the Year Authentic posted a furlong work of :9 4/5 seconds during Sunday’s Under Tack show for the upcoming OBS Spring Sale of 2-year-olds in Training, tying her for the fastest time of the day.
The filly, hip No. 102, will be the first of Authentic’s 29 individuals to sell during the first day of the sale, which runs April 16-19.
Bred in Kentucky, the bay filly is out of the multiple graded stakes-placed City Zip mare Heavenly Hill.
Authentic, a son of Spendthrift’s champion sire Into Mischief, who the Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1), Kentucky Derby (G1) and Haskell Inv. (G1) during his championship season of 2020. After taking up stud duties in 2021, Authentic was both the leading freshman weanling sire of 2022 and yearling sire of 2023. His 2024 fee is $50,000 live foal.
