First starter for Thousand Words captures Keeneland MdSpWt
April 8, 2024
Multiple graded stakes winner Thousand Words was represented by his first winner April 7 at Keeneland when The Queens M G showed extreme determination to win a 4 ½-furlong maiden special weight race at Keeneland.
The 2-year-old filly, who was the first starter for her sire, was tasked with starting from the outside post in the field of 11. Despite hopping at the start, she made her way to the lead in the first furlong, with West Memorial nearly side-by-side. These two would be inseparable most of the way, with The Queens M G never giving up the lead and winning by a head in :52.44 on a fast track. It was nearly a dozen lengths back to the rest of the field.
The Queens M G is owned by her trainer Israel Acevedo and was bred by Tom VanMeter, Samuel Hernandez, Jesus Torres and Justin Vinalay. The second foal out of her dam Show Queen, The Queens M G hails from the family of graded stakes winners Bodemeister, Untouched Talent and Parade Queen.
Thousand Words entered stud at Spendthrift in 2021 following following a successful career that included wins in the Los Alamitos Futurity (G2) at two and the Robert B. Lewis S. (G3) at three. A son of the late sire Pioneerof the Nile, Thousand Words bred an average of more than 120 mares his first three seasons at stud. He stands the 2024 season for $5,000 live foal.
