Gerrymander wins Noble Damsel S. match race by 25 lengths
October 8, 2023
When Sunday’s Noble Damsel came off the Aqueduct turf course because of day-long rains, the one-mile race scratched down to just Into Mischief’s graded stakes winner Gerrymander vs. Sunset Louise.
Gerrymander would prove to be the easiest of winners, cruising to a 25-length victory after Sunset Louise found herself clearly overmatched with three furlongs to run.
Four-year-old Gerrymander, owned by Klaravich Stables Inc., was making her first stakes start since placing in the May 6 Ruffian S. (G2) at Belmont Park. The winner of last year’s Mother Goose S. (G2) and the Tempted S. as a 2-year-old, Gerrymander is 4-4-2 in 14 starts and has earned $592,000.
The bay filly was bred by Town & Country Horse Farms, LLC and Pollock Farms. Out of stakes-placed Ruby Lips, Gerrymander is a half-sister to $1.4 million earner Lone Rock.
Gerrymander is Into Mischief’s 25th stakes winner of 2023 and capped off a terrific weekend for the nation’s leading sire that included Grade 1 wins by Timberlake in the Champagne S. (G1) and Gina Romantica in the First Lady (G1), and also Three Witches’ victory in the Princess Rooney Inv. (G3).
