Omaha Beach popular at Keeneland September

Popular young sire Omaha Beach has been well represented with his second-crop yearlings at the Keeneland September Sale. The brilliant son of War Front hails from one of the most exciting female families in the American stud book, and he’s started strong with his first juveniles to race, already siring a stakes winner with Hot Beach. With 11 first-crop winners and five black type performers, Omaha Beach brought significant momentum into the sale.

That manifested early, with hip 249 – a Spendthrift-bred colt out of the stakes-winning and graded stakes-placed Take Charge Indy mare Motion Emotion – selling for $400,000 to West Bloodstock, agent for Repole Stables. He was consigned by Mulholland Springs.

It didn’t take long for another Omaha Beach yearling to fetch $400,000, this time from buyers Alex and JoAnn Lieblong. Consigned by Crestwood Farm as hip 416, the filly is out of the Trappe Shot mare All Night Party, a half-sister to champion Ria Antonia.

Another 15 minutes later, a colt hammered for $675,000 to Spendthrift Farm. Selling as hip 427, he is out of the Quiet American mare American Queen. Towards the end of session three came another high priced Omaha Beach colt, with hip 720 selling for $535,000 to Lael Stable. Consigned by Bedouin Bloodstock, the bay colt is out of the Tapit mare So Fancy.

Heading into Book 3, Omaha Beach would get his highest priced yearling from his second crop, as hip 920 proved to be among the most sought after horses in the entire book, commanding $950,000 from Pin Oak Stud. The grand-looking colt was consigned by Burleson Farms, agent.
