September 13, 2023
Jimmy Creed sired yet another promising graded stakes winner in Private Creed when the 3-year-old colt took the $1 million, Grade 2 Franklin-Simpson Stakes at Kentucky Downs on September 9th.
Private Creed, a multiple stakes winner coming into the race, captured his first graded win after rallying along the inside to score an impressive 2 1/4-length victory under jockey Joel Rosario. He ran the 6 1/2-furlong race in a time of 1:17.03 and earned a 98 Beyer.
Bred by Sierra Farm, the millionaire colt sold for $155,000 as a 2-year-old at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic sale in 2022 to owner Mike McCarty.
Trained by Steve Asmussen, the progressive Private Creed boosted his earnings to $1,248,286 and now has 4 wins from 11 starts, with 8 finishes in the money. He could be primed for a start in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint at Santa Anita in November.
