Maximus Mischief colt cruises to effortless debut win
August 29, 2023
Glengarry’s 5 ¾-length powerhouse maiden special weight debut win Aug. 28 at Prairie Meadows made the gray colt the 16th winner for leading First-Crop sire Maximus Mischief [WATCH RACE].
The Spendthrift stallion has five more winners than any other freshman sire. In the month of August he has had eight individual winners, and Let Them Watch became her sire’s first stakes winner in the Sharp Susan S. at Gulfstream Park.
Glengarry hustled out of the gate and was on even terms with Don Juan Bubba for a quarter mile before he began to pull away. He easily repelled a brief bid from Ore Mine in upper stretch and won going away in 1:12.65 for the six furlongs on a fast track.
“We expected him to run the way he did,” said co-owner Aaron Kennedy. It was a great relief to see him produce the kind of performance he did. I don’t think he was even asked.”
Kennedy, who owns Glengarry in partnership with Toby Joseph and trainer Doug Anderson, purchased the colt for $150,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic May sale.
Glengarry was bred by Highpoint Bloodstock.
