Omaha Beach colt bests field of first-timers on Del Mar turf

The Spendthrift stallion is currently fourth on the First-Crop sire list with $509,650 in progeny earnings. Omaha Beach is the only freshman sire who has accounted for three stakes horses, including stakes winner Hot Beach.
Charge for Gold was away smartly and took up a stalking spot in third down the backstretch and was three-wide around the turn. He found her best stride in midstretch and drew off strongly in the final furlong to finish the five furlongs in :58.28 on a firm turf course.
The winner is owned by John Warren and was bred in Kentucky by Brad Shattuck.
