Into Mischief filly gets first stakes win in Saratoga’s Galway S.
August 12, 2023
L J’s Emma caught Stone Silent in the final strides to win the $150,000 Galway S. Saturday at Saratoga to give the 3-year-old Into Mischief filly her first stakes win.
The bay filly, who is owned by John Gaynor, is the 18th stakes winner this year for Into Mischief. The champion sire of the last four years, Into Mischief leads the 2023 General Sire list in every statistical category and has over $6 million more in progeny earnings than any other North American sire.
L J’s Emma was in midpack early on in the 5 ½-furlong turf sprint. She moved off the rail going around the turn and came into the stretch four-wide and full of momentum. She gained steadily on pacesetter Stone Silent to get the lead in the last 50 yards, winning by a neck in 1:02.27 on the “good” turf.
The Galway was the third straight win for L J’s Emma, following an allowance win at Ellis Park and a maiden-breaking score at Churchill Downs. She has now earned $203,545.
L J’s Emma was bred in Kentucky by Pin Oak Stud.
