Xavey Dave the newest stakes winner for Temple City

Xavey Dave shot through an opening along the fence in upper stretch on his way to victory in the Ralph Strangis S. Saturday evening at Canterbury Downs.

The half-length win in the 7 ½-furlong turf race was the first added money victory for the 4-year-old Temple City colt. The dark bay is one of eight stakes winners this year for his sire.

Facing just two foes, Xavey Dave was last of the three until making his winning move with a furlong to run. He slipped past pacesetter Thealligatorhunter and held off Stagecoach Boys to finish the distance in 1:28.22 on a firm turf course.

Xavey Dave, who already had a pair of stakes placings to his credit, is now 4-2-2 in 15 starts and has earned $161,851 for owner Linda Bush. Out of Our Sweet Mary B, Xavey Dave three stakes-winning siblings. He was bred by Warren Bush.
