Coal Front filly battles back for debut MdSpWt win
July 1, 2023
Coal Front moved into the top five on the First-Crop sire list on Friday when the filly Beacfront Breeze scored a game victory in a 4 ½-furlong maiden special weight race at Monmouth Park.
The dark bay, who was making her career debut, was away in good order and chased Red Head Italian through the first quarter-mile before making a bid for the lead at the top of the stretch. Red Head Italian battled back and took a brief lead in upper stretch, but Beachfront Breeze repelled the challenge to win by a neck in :53.41 on a fast track.
The winner is trained by Andrew Simoff and owned by the M3 Racing Stable. She picked up $43,125 in victory.
Bred by Matty Thoroughbreds, Beachfront Breeze is out of Quick Breeze, also the dam of graded stakes-placed Bo Cruz. Quick Breeze is a half-sister to Preakness S. (G1) winner and Spendthrift stallion Cloud Computing.
Coal Front earned more than $1.8 million in a stellar career that saw him win graded stakes in three campaigns. He stands for $5,000 live foal.
