Temple City’s Artemus Citylimits peaking for Breeders’ Cup
November 2, 2022
With his best two starts coming in his most recent races, Artemus Citylimits enters Saturday’s $1 million Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (G1) at Keeneland in peak form.
The 5-year-old son of Temple City was beaten just a neck in the Turf Sprint (G2) at Kentucky Downs in September and placed in the Woodford S. (G2) over the same Keeneland course in early October. He earned Beyer Speed Figures of 100 in both outings.
Owned by Paradise Farms Corp., David Staudacher and Michael Dubb, Artemus Citylimits is a remarkably consistent 6-7-8 in 22 lifetime starts. He was unfortunate to draw the outside post in the field of 14 going 5 ½-furlongs, though he had a similar draw in his race at Kentucky Downs.
Temple City has continued to provide excellent value at his $5,000 stud fee. This year he has nine stakes winners, five of them graded, around the world.
Saturday’s Turf Sprint kicks off the Breeders’ Cup portion of the card as race 4 at 12:29 p.m. ET.
