October 26, 2022
A colt from the first crop of Eclipse champion Mitole brought a top bid of $260,000 during Tuesday’s session of the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October Yearling sale.
Mitole, who was named Champion Sprinter of 2019, has been one of the most popular new stallions of the past three years, breeding more than 200 mares each season.
Tuesday’s subject colt, hip No. 739, was consigned by Four Star Sales, agent and purchased by trainer Greg Foley, agent.
The chestnut Kentucky-bred is the first foal out of the Super Saver mare Dashing Angel, who is a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Sky Diva and multiple stakes winner Quick Little Miss. His third dam Gather the Clan (IRE) was responsible for two-time Grade 1 winner and $1.9 million earner Pure Clan.
To date, Mitole’s yearlings have averaged nearly seven times his stud fee. He will stand the 2023 season for $15,000 live foal.
