Thirty Thou Kelvin earns well-timed maiden special weight win
October 15, 2022
Leading First-Crop sire Bolt d’Oro now has 17 individual winners after Thirty Thou Kelvin tallied a 1 ¼-length maiden special weight win Saturday at the Belmont at the Big A meet.
The 2-year-old filly capped another solid week for Bolt d’Oro, who had a pair of maiden special weight winners and chalked up his 11th stakes horse when Bolt’s Broad placed in the Grade 3 Surfer Girl S. at Santa Anita. No other First-Crop sire has more than seven stakes horses to date.
Thirty Thou Kelvin was unhurried in the early stages of the one-mile off the turf affair, tracking nicely in fourth through the first five furlongs. She swung wide coming into the stretch and rallied strongly to pass the front-runners and win with something in reserve (WATCH RACE).
Thirty Thou Kelvin is owned by the SJB Stable, who purchased her for $110,000 out of the 2021 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October Yearling sale. She was bred in the Bluegrass State by Horseshoe Racing LLC
