August 16, 2022
First-Crop sire Maximus Mischief had another strong day during Tuesday’s session of the Fasig-Tipton New York Select Yearlings sale with two lots bringing at least $150,000.
Topping the day for the Spendthrift stallion was hip No. 555, which was consigned by Sequel New York, agent, and sold to Tom McCrocklin, agent for $165,000.
The bay colt is out of the Pioneerof the Nile mare Explicable, who is also the dam of stakes winner Excellent Timing. Explicable is a half-sister to track record-setter and graded stakes winner Inexplicable.
Just a few minutes later hip No. 566, consigned by Colin Brennan Bloodstock, agent, came through the ring and was tabbed by Downton Walk Bloodstock for $150,000.
The bay filly is out of Frolic’s Candy, whose dam Frolic’s Dream won the Forward Gal S. (G2).
Maximus Mischief wrapped up the sale with an outstanding average of $101,000, more than 13 times his current stud fee of $7,500 live foal.
