Jackie’s Warrior named 2021 Champion Male Sprinter at Eclipse Awards
February 11, 2022
Future Spendthrift Farm stallion Jackie’s Warrior won the Eclipse Award as the 2021 Champion Male Sprinter during the ceremony held Thursday evening at Santa Anita Park.
Owned by J. Kirk and Judy Robinson and trained by Steve Asmussen, Jackie’s Warrior racked up four graded stakes wins and earned over $1 million during his 3-year-old campaign.
His most thrilling win came in the H. Allen Jerkens S. (G1), when he defeated Life Is Good by a neck. Last year’s highlights included victories in the Gallant Bob S. (G2), where he heard a career-best Beyer Speed Figure of 110, a dominating score in the Amsterdam S. (G2), and a very gritty win in the Pat Day Mile (G2).
“He’s an unbelievable, tremendous horse,” trainer Steve Asmussen told Daily Racing Form last November. “I thought that the Allen Jerkens against Life Is Good was as good as horse racing gets. Unbelievably fortunate to be involved with him and very anxious to race him next year–because they don’t get any better.”
Jackie’s Warrior, who won the Champagne S. (G1), Hopeful S. (G2) and Saratoga Special S. (G2) at two, is 8-1-1 in 12 lifetime starts and has earned $1,553,964 to date.
