Rager a debut stakes winner for Into Mischief
November 21, 2021
Rager stepped up into stakes company for the first time in his career on Nov. 20 and came away with a well-earned victory in the Oakland S. at Golden Gate Fields.
A 4-year-old son of Into Mischief, Rager was several lengths off the pace early in the six-furlong Oakland. He began to make up ground on the turn. When pacesetter Papa’s Golden Boy began to falter in upper stretch, Rager surged to the lead and held off Italiano to win by a length.
The winner is owned by Jethorse LLC and was bred in Kentucky by Eduardo Vargas. He is the first foal out of the Distorted Humor mare Distorted Champ, who is a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Champ Pegasus.
Rager is Into Mischief’s 27th black type winner this year, which is ten more than any other sire standing in North America.
