November 11, 2021
A weanling from the second crop of Grade 1 winner Bolt d’Oro was the top-priced colt early in Thursday’s session of the Keeneland November sale, bringing a high bid of $260,000.
Consigned by Vinery Sales, agent, hip No. 241 went to Maverick Racing. The bay Kentucky-bred is the third foal out of Shanghai Beauty, who is a half-sister to three-time graded stakes winner Secret Gypsy.
Bolt d’Oro, whose first crop will be 2-year-olds of 2022, has had a particularly strong year in 2021, with more than 100 yearlings sold and averaging in excess of seven times his stud fee.
Scheduled to stand for $20,000 in 2022, Bolt d’Oro has a total of 17 lots in the current Keeneland sale.
