Into Mischief colt hits $1 million mark
September 17, 2021
Into Mischief had his third seven-figure horse of the Keeneland September Yearling sale on Thursday when hip No. 874 sold for an even $1 million to agent Mike Ryan.
Bred and consigned by Greg Goodman’s Mt. Brilliant Farm, the bay yearling is out of stakes winner and graded-placed Secret Someone. The colt’s second dam, Private Gift, produced the dam of Grade One winner Dunbar Road.
“I am very familiar with the family because a good friend of mine bred Dunbar Road,” Ryan said after signing the ticket. “I bought the dam of Dunbar Road (Gift List) and it’s a family I am familiar with, and I own some mares from the family. (This yearling) reminded me a lot of (Into Mischief’s son) Practical Joke. If he runs to his pedigree, top and bottom, he has terrific stallion potential.”
Private Gift is also the dam of Private Mission (also by Into Mischief), who sold for $750,000 at the 2019 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga sale and recently won the Torrey Pines S. (G3) at Del Mar.
With Book 2’s conclusion on Thursday, the Keeneland sale takes a day off Friday before resuming Saturday to continue daily through Sept. 24.
