Goldencents, the nation’s leading Fourth-Crop sire, got his sixth stakes winner of the year Sunday at Ellis Park when Verylittlecents took the $100,000 Ellis Park Debutante in front-running fashion (WATCH RACE).
The 2-year-old filly was coming off a July 11 maiden score won in similar style. Stretching out from five to seven furlongs proved to be no problem for her, as she set a pressured pace of :23.19 for the quarter-mile and :46.30 for the half. Golden Sights, another daughter of Goldencents, mounted a serious challenge in upper stretch, but Verylittlecents would not be denied, winning by 2 ½-lengths in 1:23.32 for the seven furlongs, with Golden Sights completing the Goldencents exacta.
The winner races in the colors of Randy Patterson and has two victories in three starts, with earnings of $111,980.
Verylittlecents is out of Pince Me, an unraced daughter of Arch who is a half-sister to Bold Ruler H. (G3) winner No Dozing. She was bred in Kentucky by Kellie & Tim Holland and Ramon Rangel.
Goldencents leads the Fourth-Crop sire list in nearly every measurable category. His 14 black type horses is twice as many as any sire of his generation, while his progeny earnings of more than $4.7 million tops the list by over $1 million.
