Casa Creed wins Elusive Quality S. in four-horse photo

Jimmy Creed’s 5-year-old son Casa Creed got his third lifetime stakes win Saturday at Belmont Park with a big rally in the final furlong to take the $100,000 Elusive Quality S.

After contesting graded stakes across the country for nearly a year, Casa Creed got a well-deserved victory on Saturday. He lingered near the back of the eight-horse field for most of the seven-furlong turf trip. It wasn’t until mid-stretch that he began his rally, finally putting his head in front in the final few strides to win by a head of Front Run the Fed, with less than a length separating the top four finishers.

The time on the firm turf was 1:22.65.

“He ran against the best grass milers in the world last year and he never disgraced himself,” said co-owner Lee Einsidler of LRE Racing (co-owner is JEH Racing Stable LLC). “We thought today would be a good test going seven (furlongs) as opposed to going a mile. Now, we know we can run him going six or seven or a mile, so that gives us some options. He loves to be a racehorse. When (trainer) Bill Mott is in your corner, you feel pretty good about your chances.”

Bred in Kentucky by Silver Springs Stud, Casa Creed banked $55,000 in victory while improving his record to 19-4-3-3. Among his victories are the Racing Hall of Fame S. (G2) and Kitten’s Joy S. His lifetime earnings stand at $535,408.
