Brody’s Cause colt brings $200K Wednesday at F-T
October 30, 2020
Top-10 First-Crop sire Brody’s Cause had one of the top-priced colts sold during Wednesday’s session of the Oct. 26-29 Fasig-Tipton October Yearlings sale.
Hip No. 809, consigned by Wynnstay Sales, went to prominent buyer Donato Lanni for $200,000. The bay colt was bred in Kentucky by Wynnstay, along with H. Allen Poindexter, Mark Toothaker and Denny Minnehan.
The colt is the second foal out of the Warrior’s Reward mare Star of Gallantry. Her siblings include Grade 3 winner Moonwalk, and the graded stakes-placed duo of Thatswhatimean and Atswhatimtalknbout, the latter who ran fourth in the Kentucky Derby (G1).
Brody’s Cause is tied for the top spot on the First-Crop sire list by both black type winners and black type horses. Two of his colts, the stakes winner Sittin On Go, and Smiley Sobotka, have both been pre-entered the Nov. 6 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) at Keeneland. Official post positions will be drawn for that race on Nov. 1.
