Leading First-Crop sire Hit It a Bomb’s lone offering Thursday at the Sept. 9-10 Fasig-Tipton Selected Yearlings Showcase brought plenty of attention from bidders, ultimately coming under the gavel at $330,000.
Consigned by Eaton Sales, agent for Spendthrift Farm, hip No. 423 went to trainer Ken McPeek, agent.
The bay colt is out of the Tiznow mare Tiz the Key, whose one foal to race is the four-time winner Marble Moon, by Shakin It Up.
Hit It a Bomb, one of only five First-Crop sire to have a graded stakes winner, made an immediate splash when Weston broke his maiden in the Best Pal S. (G2) and placed in the Del Mar Futurity (G1). Hit It a Bomb’s current yearling average for 2020 in $120,667, more than 24 times his stud fee.
